New Babies

Lesley Price • August 5, 2020

We had a lovely week this week, 3 new babies!

I am delighted to say, they are very healthy, a good weight and already alert. Not bad for days old, very proud of them.
We are feeding a couple through the night, every hour at the moment, but it’s a family thing. So Steve and I share the responsibility, that way we are both overtired and cranky.  ðŸ˜œ
But they are the cutest things even at 3 am!

The other Marmosets are as usual enjoying the sunshine, climbing, chasing each other and foraging in the undergrowth, which seems

to be a favourite pastime at the moment. I have posted some new pictures of them all. I couldn’t resist posting some pictures of the plants growing around the garden at the moment too, Florida is so beautiful at this time of year despite the heat, storms and rain, it does make for some really spectacular blooming flowers. I surround the marmoset enclosures with them. I think it keeps them as near to nature as possible, but we are careful what we plant in the enclosures many things are poisonous to the marmoset

So please be careful.

Please take a look at the marmoset pictures they are adorable.

we are, and so are our Marmoset family members. There is a lot of foraging, chasing and swinging from rope to rope going on. I will try and post a video of that very soon on our instagram We are busy doing maintenance work on the cages, like everything else the enclosures need the greenery thinning out. Our marmosets like to forage and hide, but I like to be able to see where they are and do a head count while feeding them. Elsa (the little lady in the photo above) is living in our morning room at the moment and has become part of the family, she loves to play peek a boo and call out to the dog, and when the cat falls asleep on the windowsill next to her cage she pulls his tail! Honestly Max , our cat, is so laid back he just opens one eye and moves his tail away from her then goes back to sleep. He must have marvelous blood pressure, definitely no stress in his world! For those of you who follow us on Instagram , Facebook and visit our website from time to time, if you are thinking of becoming a Marmoset parent a good place to start is to do your research in to them, make sure you have the time and commitment to making sure its right for you and complete your Fish and Wildlife application for your permit. So many people don't realize they need one, only to be disappointed at the wait time to receive it. Hope you enjoy our pictures. 😊

Tucking in to a meal is the marmoset familys favorite pastime.

Marmosets need your company everyday. They are extremely sociable animals and can become lonely and bored if left alone for long periods of time. They also need toys that keep them occupied we hide treats for them to find, their natural tendancy is to forage so they are happiest when finding food for themselves Use your imagination to think of interesting ways to keep them amused.
